Yew is a knotty dry wood with a golden brown and blonde color and an appealing marbled grain. Yew is often used in rustic decor since it contains so many knots and burls.

History & Lore:

Yew originally comes from Europe & Asia. Yew represents death and dark omens. It is most often used as an evergreen hedge to protect against misfortune. Yew also often surrounds European graveyards as a guardian over the dead. It was used to make bows. As with the Tarot card “Death,” this wood could either represent physical death or simply a transition from one chapter in life to another. Yew wands can be used for grief work, divination or hexes.
