Holly is an evergreen shrub that bears thorny leaves and bright red berries. The wood has a creamy ivory color with a wide consistent grain.

History & Lore:

It grows in temperate zones around the world. It has links to Norse mythology as Odin’s spear was made of Holly. Sprigs of holly leaves and berries are traditionally placed around an oak log at Yule, representing the union of God & Goddess. This wood is sometimes used for sleep spells. It’s used to cultivate aggression for spells of revenge and banishment. Lore says holly is used by men to make themselves irresistible to women.
